A personalised Christmas book for kids, with your child at the heart of it

A story about the waiting, the giving and the glow, and your child right in the middle of their own Christmas. The book that comes out with the decorations every December.

Christmas falls in summer in Australia and New Zealand and in winter in the US, Canada and India. The story can be set in either.

Why this story

What it does for them

For young children, the best part of Christmas is often the waiting: the lights going up, the counting of sleeps, the feeling that something wonderful is nearly here. This story lives in that fizz of anticipation, so it’s one to start reading in early December and finish on Christmas Eve.

It also turns the day around. For older children, the story has them give: a gift made for each person, or a Christmas job that used to be someone else’s. Children glow when their gift lands, and the story lets them be the one who makes Christmas happen for someone else.

Real Christmases aren’t perfect, and the book doesn’t pretend. The tree leans, the tape gives up in the heat, someone falls asleep on the couch. Those are the moments families remember, whether Christmas means frost on the window or a hot afternoon at the beach.

By age

How the story changes with age

  • Ages 2 and under

Sparkles, lights and a tree to reach for. Short, cosy lines with sounds to repeat and one simple moment of wonder.

  • Ages 3–5

A tree that leans, a table that won’t hold still or a parcel to guess, fixed by everyone together, and the glow when it works.

  • Ages 6+

A Christmas job handed down, a gift made for each person on their list, and one quiet minute in the middle of a loud day.

Make it yours

The same moment, a hundred different stories

A few ways it could go. Yours starts with one sentence about your child.

  • A summer Christmas: Kiri and her cousins build a sandcastle tree at the beach.
  • Jack’s job is to put the star on top, and he’s been practising since November.
  • The year the whole family squeezed into Grandma’s tiny flat for Christmas lunch.
  • Snowed in on Christmas Eve, with one very important letter still to post.
  • Mei makes a present for everyone in the house, including the cat.

Questions parents ask

When should I order a Christmas book?

The finished pages are made once you confirm the story, so start a little before you need the book. Printed copies also need time for printing and shipping, so order those early in the season.

Does it have to include Santa?

No. The idea gives you a starting sentence that you can change. Keep Santa in, leave him out, or make it about carols, church, cousins or the beach. The story follows what you write.

Can it be a summer Christmas?

Yes. Mention the beach, the barbecue or backyard cricket and the story is set there. Christmas doesn’t need snow.

Can the whole family be in it?

Your child is the star, and you can add up to 3 more people with a photo or a description. Anyone you don’t add stays in the background, seen from behind or as a pair of hands.

Is it a book to keep?

That’s the idea. Choose a hard cover and it becomes a personalized book to bring out with the decorations each December, read a little differently every year as they grow.
