Child first
Every decision starts with the child reading the book, from how the story is shaped to how the pictures look.
About MakeMyStory
MakeMyStory makes personalised picture books that put your child at the centre: their face, their world, their moment. Reading it feels like it’s about them, because it is.
Look inside a real example →It started with a moment every parent recognises. A child picked up a book, saw their own name on the page, and their eyes lit up in a way nothing else had managed. That look of pure, wide-eyed recognition said everything.
But a name is only the beginning. What that child was really responding to was being seen. We wanted to make it easier to give any child that feeling: a book where they look like themselves on every page, and where the story is about their own life, whether that’s a new baby at home, a first day at school or a grandparent far away.
So we built MakeMyStory. You describe the moment, share a photo and see where the story is heading before you decide to make the book. No design skills, no template to squeeze your child into. Just a story they’ll want to read again and again.
Many personalised books swap in a name and call it done. We think that misses the point.
A stock character with your child’s hair colour swapped in
A character drawn from your child’s own photo, so they’re recognisable on every page
A short list of preset storylines to pick from
Any moment you can describe in your own words, with the story built around your child
A name dropped into a story written for any child
A story written for this child, this adventure, this moment

Our approach draws on research into memory, shared reading and how children make sense of feelings.
